Morticia Addams is a fictional character from ‘Addams Family’ who has been played by different actresses in various ‘Addams Family media’. The frightening and ominous matriarch of the Addams Family has changed costumes several times over the series’ television episodes and films.

The Addams family consists of Gomez and Morticia Addams, the married pair, Wednesday and Pugsley, Grandmama, Uncle Fester, Thing, Cousin Itt, and Lurch, the butler.

The Addams Family (1973)

The Addamses are a close-knit extended family with supernatural abilities and extremely macabre tastes. In the series, their abilities are never fully explained. Morticia’s pale skin was enhanced with a light rosy blush throughout the series. The heavy and black eye makeup was changed with a more delicate smokey eye, which made her stare appear appealing rather than haunting. Addams Family Reunion

The Addams Family Reunion was at least consistent with Morticia’s personality. Daryl Hannah’s Morticia costume had lace sleeves to add visual variety while preserving the mermaid shape. In contrast to earlier adjustments, the changes made to Morticia’s attire in The Addams Family Reunion were at least appropriate for her character.

The New Addams Family (1998-1999)

Morticia’s clothing in The New Addams Family differs significantly from that in Addams’ comic strips. Her costume achieved a whole new level of gothic splendor.
